Position Summary: Reporting to the Production Supervisor, this role is responsible for leading a production team in assembling an entire product or component of a product. The Team Lead will train and lead others in assembly and sub-assembly operations of a basic to advanced complexity. Participate in and/or lead project teams tasked with process improvement, problem resolution, lean initiatives, and NPD launches.

Shift: 6:00 AM to 6 PM


Primary/Essential Responsibilities:

  • Provide hands on leadership to assigned area team communicating daily schedule, goals, performance, and team member assignments
  • Assist with supervisory tasks and employee performance evaluations with support of area supervisor
  • Perform process audits, safety sweeps, and employee training (including TWI) as required
  • Review area 6S, tools, fixtures, and material availability daily
  • Accountable for performance of assigned area
  • Assist in resolution of issues found with assembly processes, materials, tools, BOMs, or engineering items affecting assigned area
  • Generate non-conformance reports for any material, manufacturing, quality, or design issues uncovered
  • Perform hands on direct labor and other functions within the group to maintain flow of work in an efficient manner to ensure on-time completion
  • Assist in rework and completion of any non-conforming product within assigned area
  • Support new product development through production of prototypes, reviewing BOMs, work instructions, drawings, and assembly plans prior to product launch
  • Support continuous improvement projects within assigned area or other areas of expertise as required
  • Assist in identification and correction of safety improvement activities
  • Support customer required factory acceptance testing
  • Acts as a backup for all Health & Safety responsibilities when supervisor is not present
  • Attending, participate and embrace daily Huddle meetings and provide input, complete tasks and communicate expectations cross functionally to other shifts.
  • Utilize technical knowledge and diagnostic tools to determine the root cause of equipment malfunctions or product defects.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years’ experience performing work in a manufacturing environment
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to influence others to foster ideas and continuous improvement
  • Must have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to lead and coordinate activities within a department comprised of diverse tasks and demanding schedules.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex drawings, schematics
  • Ability to facilitate training
  • Must have intermediate computer skills in MS Word and Excel and Experience using an ERP system desirable
  • Demonstrated ability to problem solve including use of corrective and preventive actions
  • Ability to safely use hand tools and perform production assembly processes
  • Possesses thorough understanding of standard production processes

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience leading a team desirable
  • Technical College/University degree completed or in process

Leadership:

Team Leader: advises and coordinates team efforts to completion; answers questions functioning as an expert resource; maintains assignment completion schedules. Performs the same tasks as others within the team along with some higher-level tasks.
