Material Handler

In this job you will be responsible responsible for a variety of duties related to the movement of materials and product within the plant, including but not limited to loading and unloading materials from trucks, processing incoming and outgoing shipments, and moving parts, materials, product between production departments.

As a Material Handler you will:

  • Load, unload, move and store a variety of incoming materials.
  • Receive and deliver product in a timely manner.
  • Work with Planners, Buyers, and other intra-office personnel to maintain inventory and process shipments.
  • Operate fork lift truck to move materials and stack loaded pallets. Load outgoing trucks using hand truck, lift truck or overhead crane.
  • Maintain in-process inventory at work centers by delivering materials on a timely basis.
  • Assist in troubleshooting transactional and/or procedural problems related to inventory accuracy with Planners/Buyers/etc
  • Perform appropriate transactions efficiently and accurately on the current business system.
  • Count, weigh or measure incoming or outgoing orders and compare against bills of lading and/or invoices for accuracy.
  • Provide back up to shipping and receiving as required.
  • Pack , seal, and label materials for shipment
  • Adhere to shipping and receiving policies/procedures, and regulatory compliance procedures
  • Maintain compliance with laws, regulations, and/or standards and complete appropriate documentation as required
  • Exercises initiative and independent judgment in adapting and applying procedures to address day-to-day activities
  • Consults with team leader/supervisor when making decisions regarding complex or unusual circumstances

We are looking for someone who has:

  • High School Diploma, G.E.D
  • Minimum (2) years operating a Fork Lift
  • Current license/certification
  • Minimum one (1) year shipping/receiving experience, including experience using computerized systems.
  • Must have basic computer skills in MS Word and Excel
  • Ability to read and interpret bills of materials desirable
  • A strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask, while maintaining a strong commitment to safety is critical
  • Results-oriented, self-motivated individual with a sense of initiative
  • Ability to independently identify and develop solutions to problems that may arise in the course of work
  • Ability to work independently and as a team player while solving problems and multitasking in a deadline-driven environment

We prefer someone who has:

  • Experience using an ERP system

Shift:

This is a day shift position running Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

Lifting Demands

  • Lift up to 50 lbs. on a frequent basis floor to waist
  • Lift up to 50 lbs. on a basis floor to chest
  • Carry up to 40 lbs. on an occasional basis up to 25 feet
  • Push/pull up to 50 lbs on an occasional basis

Postural Demands

  • Standing – continuous
  • Walking – continuous
  • Bending/stooping – continuous
  • Squatting/kneeling – continuous
  • Lifting – frequent

Miscellaneous Demands

  • Griping, manipulation, fingering – continuous
  • Variable hand/power tool use – frequent
  • Two-person lifting tasks using assistive devices for lifting, pulling and pushing including hand trucks, pallet jacks, forklifts and hoists

What we offer you:

Pay Range is typically between $19.71 to 25.48 per hour
