Position Summary: Oversees all aspects of foundry operations, sales, and manufacturing processes.

Primary/Essential Responsibilities:

Operational and Technical Management:

  • Responsible for day-to-day oversight of foundry operations, sets and executes business goals to meet safety, quality, delivery, and financial targets
  • Drives timely manufacture and delivery of customer orders, monitors and communicates production schedules, keeping relevant parties informed of delays and other related issues
  • Implement and maintain quality control systems to ensure products meet industry standards and customer expectations; analyzes data and processes and handles corrective actions
  • Oversees training program to ensure employees are trained effectively and efficiently. Ensures compliance of all manufacturing procedures, work instructions and TWI’s
  • Works with Environmental Health & Safety to maintain and enforce policies and procedures, which include applicable regulatory requirements
  • Manages and monitors inventory, monitors metal trends and pricing, interfaces with vendors as required
  • Serves as technical subject matter expert; point of contact for new products, including quality, material, and financial inputs, and optimizing method to meet product requirements
  • Monitors industry trends and technological advancements, implementing best practices in foundry operations
  • Establish priorities in line with future state and business strategies; including implementing new processes and equipment
  • Lead and mentor manufacturing workforce including supervisors, team leaders, and hourly production staff, as well as technical engineers, and office staff.

Financial Management:

  • Develop and manage the foundry’s budget, ensuring cost-effective operations.
  • Monitor financial performance, analyzing variances and implementing corrective measures.
  • Reviews and adjusts roles and headcount requirements to meet changing production needs and targets; evaluates performance of team regularly against job requirements
  • In conjunction with finance, handles casting costing and pricing procedures

Customer Relations and Business Development:

  • Sets and drives commercial strategy to achieve sales targets and revenue growth.
  • Identifies opportunities for expansion and growth by developing new business relationships
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with existing and potential customers, understanding their needs and providing tailored solutions.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for key customers, managing relationships and ensuring long-term partnerships.
  • Provide commercial oversight for existing customers and products, as well as new products in development

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in technical discipline (Metallurgy preferred); or the equivalent combination of work experience and skill development
  • 10+ years or more of progressive experience working in foundry environment, including 5+ years in a leadership role
  • Possess the fundamental knowledge and skills to effectively design and manufacture custom non-ferrous alloy metal castings
  • Proven experience in sales, business development, and customer relationship management. Possesses a strong drive, and entrepreneurial spirit
  • Experience managing vendors, contracts and expense budgets; as well as tools and infrastructure upgrades
  • Demonstrated motivational/influential leadership skills and strong business acumen
  • Sound financial skills to drive operating profitability, customer quotes, capital expenditures, and long-term planning
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Working Conditions:

  • The role is primarily based in the foundry environment, requiring adherence to safety protocols and use of personal protective equipment.
  • Frequent travel may be required to meet with customers, suppliers, and attend industry events.
