Apprenticeship Program

G&W Electric has built a culture focused on employee success with a strong approach to cultivating talent internally. Launched in 2013, our apprenticeship programs have offered the greatest growth opportunities for employees with diverse backgrounds across the company. We offer programs for positions such as maintenance, welding fabrications, electrical drafting, and electronic technicians. The programs range from six months to two years and can include up to 600-hundred hours of training, plus an on-the-job certification program.

The rotational program moves employees from one job to another providing a variety of experiences with an opportunity to enhance their awareness of personal interests, strengthen their skills, and build relationships throughout the organization while accelerating their onboarding.

Tuition Reimbursement

G&W Electric recognizes that investment in the development of its employees is critical to the growth and success of the Company. Individual pursuit of professional development to maximize effectiveness within the company, to enhance job-related knowledge and/or for career advancement within the Company is greatly encouraged. The purpose of the policy is to provide tuition reimbursement for work-related undergraduate courses, graduate courses as well as professional certifications.

Meet Kyle

Kyle graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in electrical engineering and sought a job that would allow him to apply his technical expertise while exploring business and communication skills. He found his niche in the power industry and began his career as an application engineer at G&W Electric. Kyle's proudest accomplishment was transitioning into a solution architect, where he enjoyed solving customer problems. In his current role as a manager of application engineering, Kyle finds fulfillment in mentoring the next generation of engineers, sharing industry knowledge, and instilling the values of G&W Electric.

Meet Fernando

Apprentice Success Stories

Beginning his electrical manufacturing career as a forklift driver in 1998, Fernando Mena has always been a quick learner with the determination to consistently climb the company ladder. After only six months as forklift driver at Joslyn Manufacturing, he transferred to the company’s injection molding department. Shortly after, he was approached by the plant manager to take over the cable accessories team.
