Assembler

Reporting to the Production Supervisor at our Brampton office location, the Assembler will be responsible for assembling together parts, according to drawings and procedures, with a variety of hand/power tools and fasteners.

Specific Job Duties & Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of subassembly and final assembly operations of products that are of variable shapes and sizes

  • Follow specified/established methods and procedures required to make designated assemblies involving the use of hand and power tools and test equipment

  • Ensure job meets all requirements before leaving work center

  • Meet or exceed established production levels

  • Maintain safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations

  • Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results

  • Inspect all work prior to passing it on to the next operation

  • Document actions by completing production and quality forms

Education & Certifications

  • Technical College/University graduate in electrical or mechanical studies is an asset

Knowledge, Experience and Technical Skills

  • A minimum of one (1) year working experience in an assembler position

  • Previous experience in industrial/manufacturing settings

  • Demonstrated working knowledge of blueprints, diagrams, schematics, and bill of materials

  • Demonstrated ability of use of small hand and power tools

  • Demonstrated basic electrical knowledge

  • Basic computer skills

Work Complexity & Major Relationships

  • Works under supervision of a Production Supervisor and receives instructions as to objectives and responsibilities

  • Work is reviewed for accuracy and to ensure conformity to established procedures and product guidelines

  • Major relationships include internal stakeholders

Decision Making Autonomy

  • Exercises initiative and independent judgment in adapting and applying procedures to address day-to-day activities

  • Consults with supervisor when making decisions regarding complex or unusual circumstances

Skills, Abilities and Competencies

  • Familiarity with assembling according to a blueprint

  • A strong attention to detail and the ability to multitask, while maintaining a strong commitment to safety is critical

  • Results-oriented, self-motivated individual with a sense of initiative

  • Ability to independently identify and develop solutions to problems that may arise in the course of work

  • Ability to work independently and as a team player while solving problems and multitasking in a deadline-driven environment

  • Take responsibility for their own safety and those around them by following safety & environmental rules and regulations
