Position Summary:

G&W Manufacturing Engineers are responsible for the technical development and continual improvement of manufacturing systems and processes including: work sequence, tool and fixture design and implementation, machine specification, and serving in a Project Management role for capital equipment projects. The Manufacturing Engineers will also provide production support for technical issues.


Primary/Essential Responsibilities:

  • Tool and Fixture design, selection and implementation. Design and implement tooling and fixtures focused on error-proofing to eliminate waste in the manufacturing process and make operations safer. Use internal or external sources as determined by schedule, resources, and cost analysis. Support repair and replenishment of tooling. Work with suppliers to address quality and manufacturability issues on parts, tooling, and fixturing.
  • Improve manufacturing safety, quality, delivery lead times, delivery performance, and cost
  • Ensure that the concepts of Design for Manufacturability are incorporated in engineered to order product design. Manage the development of manufacturing and testing processes, equipment, handling, packaging, etc. for new product launches with Development Engineering and Production Engineering.
  • Develop storage, inventory, and handling requirements for incoming and in-process materials.
  • Project Manage capital projects for equipment, including cost analysis, supplier interaction, and project implementation.
  • Schedule completion of projects and special assignments.
  • Prepare visual factory, standard work, and written documentation for new processes and technology.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering and/or Manufacturing Engineering
  • 2-5 years of experience “hands on” low to medium volume assembly manufacturing environment with direct involvement in process improvements and practical quality improvement implementation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Autocad/Solidworks/Inventor/Creole CAD design
  • Manufacturing Engineering experience strongly preferred.
  • Lean Six Sigma Problem Solving experience preferred.

Leadership:

Project Leader/Manager: Strong ability to effectively work with Shop, Maintenance, Production Engineering and Suppliers to deliver cost effective quality solutions. Plans and organizes the resources necessary to complete a project utilizing the necessary principles, techniques, and tools used in planning, control, monitoring, and review of projects.

  • General Office Environment, PC use
  • Light Lifting (occasional 25 lbs or less)
  • Stooping
  • Standing

Other:

  • Assembly of tools and parts may be required
